Wednesday night in Oregon, a freight train collided with a passenger vehicle, killing three of its occupants and injuring another, according to officials.
KVAL reported that the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said the car was struck by a train near Gervais and that a fourth passenger was airlifted to a hospital. Gervais is a community in Marion County, Oregon, approximately 15 miles from Salem.
“This is a tragic and unfortunate situation,” Sergeant Don Parise told the media.
He added, “We just want to remind everyone to be cautious when crossing any railroads, whether in a vehicle, on foot, or on a bicycle; just take your time, be extra cautious, look both ways, and make sure it’s safe to proceed before proceeding.”
KVAL reported that Marion County officials closed Keene Road Northeast for several hours following the accident.
Fox News Digital sought out to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office for more information but did not receive a response immediately.
