Police said that late last month, the singer of a thrash metal band from southwest Ohio and several family members were killed in what appears to have been a murder-suicide.
According to the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived at a home on Riebel Ridge in Ohio Township at about 9:40 a.m. on February 27, and as they walked up to the house, they heard many gunshots coming from within.
In spite of numerous attempts, deputies were unable to speak with anyone inside. As an alternative, the home was entered by the Sheriff’s Special Response Team, who were called to the scene.
Four of the five victims of gunshot wounds were already dead when the team members entered. Samantha Cain, age 20, who was the fifth victim, was attended to on-site before being taken by Pierce Township EMS personnel to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

She is still in critical condition, the sheriff’s office said. Steven Cain, 50, Theresa Cain, 46, William Felton, 74, and Ethan Cain, 13, were the four victims who were discovered dead.
The sheriff’s office stated that they believe Theresa Cain is accountable for the shooting deaths of three family members and Samantha Cain after an examination at the crime scene and a preliminary autopsy report by the Hamilton County Coroner.
The incident is still under investigation. Steve Cain, Theresa’s husband, sang for the thrash metal group Critical Khaos.
Steve introduced himself in a post on the Critical Khaos Facebook page on October 25. He claimed in the article that he was originally from Augusta, Georgia and that he then relocated to Connecticut in 2012 and Cincinnati in 2015.
His full-time position at a research and development facility was in safety and environmental management. In addition, Cain had 13 books published, including poems, short stories, and a horror novel.
Crimson Glory, Queensryche, King Diamond, Stryper, and Prince were some of the musicians that Cain listened to.
When Stephen and his son Ethan passed away, Cain’s bandmates sent a link to a GoFundMe page set up by his sister’s family to assist with burial costs.
