The girl’s mother is said to have informed the authorities that she believed her daughter was possessed by a malevolent spirit because she would wake up in the middle of the night and scream and cry. This is according to the prosecuting attorneys.
The mother, uncle, and grandfather of a California kid who was three years old when she passed away during an exorcism performed in a church in 2021 to rid her of evil spirits have been charged with criminal offenses by the authorities.

In the case of Rene Aaron Hernandez-Santos, 19, and her grandfather Rene Trigueros Hernandez, 59, an aunt and a grandpa were detained on Wednesday on suspicions of criminal child abuse resulting in death in connection with the girl. Arely Naomi Proctor, an infant, was suffocated and strangled to death during a 12-hour exorcism that took place at Iglesia Apostoles y Profetas in San Jose. Arely Naomi Proctor died of asphyxia caused by suffocation and strangulation.
Claudia Hernandez-Santos, the girl’s mother, had previously been charged with the crime of felony child abuse. The death of Proctor occurred on September 24, 2001.
