The reward for information that leads to the arrest of the accused gunman in the fatal Ocala mall shooting, which left one person dead two days before Christmas, has been doubled by Florida law enforcement officials.
Albert Shell Jr. is still “actively searched” for, according to the Ocala Police Department, which also posted on Facebook on Saturday that it is offering $20,000 for information leading to his capture.
According to authorities, Shell, 39, is suspected of shooting and killing David Nathaniel Barron, 40, who was discovered dead in a shared section of the Paddock Mall in north central Florida on one of the busiest shopping days of the year.
According to officials, a lady was also injured in the event after taking a bullet to the leg.
The Florida Sheriff’s Association contributed an extra $5,000 to the prize sum, and Ocala police are giving a reward of $15,000.
According to law enforcement sources, they think the shooting was a premeditated act of violence. For first-degree premeditated murder and first-degree attempted premeditated murder, authorities filed an arrest warrant for Shell Jr. on December 24, as CNN previously reported.
Ocala Police Chief Mike Balken stated that there were “many people inside the mall” at the time of the shooting, “which means there’s a lot of witnesses that could potentially help us bring this case to a successful resolution.”
