On Long Island, New York, seven striped bass were discovered concealed within traffic cones near the Bayville Bridge.

Several officers from the Division of Law Enforcement of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) found something suspicious after conducting a series of compliance inspections on Long Island.

According to the New York DEC, the season for striped bass fishing in maritime areas and the Delaware River does not begin until April 15. However, some enthusiastic fishermen chose to gain an unlawful advantage, and the Environmental Conservation Officers (EOC) acted swiftly to stop them.

On April 6, late into the night, ECO According to a recent news release from the DEC, Brent McCarthy observed many people capturing striped bass and noted that the fishermen were keeping the out-of-season fish rather than releasing them back into the water.
