The Everett Police Department has published a statement that reads, “The Everett Police Department is sad to report the sudden passing of Melissa Bagley, 44 years old, wife of Lt Sean Bagley who died during a family outing along the river in the White Mountain area yesterday afternoon.” The statement goes on to say that the department is “saddened to report the sudden passing of Melissa Bagley, wife of Lt Sean Bagley.” Melissa immediately plunged into the water when one of her children accidentally fell in the river.
A hike at Franconia Falls was one of the activities that brought Melissa Bagley, her six children, and a family friend from Lynn, Massachusetts to the state of New Hampshire.
The youngster, who is 10 years old, managed to get himself into one of the waterfall pools, which required the other adults in the group to go in after him and save him. The rest of the family, including two adults and two children, were entangled in the rocks and current, but the 10-year-old boy’s family was able to save him, according to the New Hampshire State Police.
It was said that the family, who were originally from Massachusetts, arrived to the Lincoln Woods trailhead in New Hampshire at roughly one in the afternoon. Their excursion was meant to include a stop at the waterfalls so that they could swim there.
