There is a viral leak circulating on the internet about an app from Meta. It is rumoured that it will be a competitor to the most popular microblogging website, Twitter. The design of the alleged app will more likely to have the looks of Instagram, featuring short videos with texts.
The reason behind all of this news getting viral is that many people are disliking Twitter after its takeover by Elon Musk. Most of the liberals are outraged that their voices will not be free on this platform as it used to be.
Therefore many people are looking for alternatives to Twitter after getting sold in the hands of Elon Musk, the owner and founder of Tesla and SpaceX. They are expecting a huge reshuffle in management and the board of directors as Elon gave hints about liberating all the banned accounts such as the Twitter accounts of Donald Trump and Andrew Tate.

Meta working on Code92, Twitter’s alternative based on the Decentralised principle
In a recent report in Forbes magazine, it is reported that Meta is working on an alternative platform as a competitor of Twitter codenamed Code92. This report is based on a newsletter titled “ICYMI by Lia Haberman”, it claimed to have an internal document from Meta which describes the development of Twitter’s competitor. Additionally, it is also described to have s similar working principle such as microblogging, but having a UI similar to Instagram for making it more interactive.
Design of Code92
The app aims to become a decentralised platform, which simply resonates with the fact that it will not be controlled by an individual singlehandedly. The report also revealed the overall design and look of the alleged app codenamed P92 or Barcelona which has a resemblance to Instagram. One of the coolest features is that a user will be able to log in on their P92 account using Instagram Id which will cater seamless experience for Meta users. Thebusinessup has also reported that P92 will sync its followers and contacts from its Instagram app to this platform as per the user’s requirements.
Twitter alternative
Without any doubt after the takeover of Elon Musk on Twitter and his arbitrary actions, people have lost trust. A majority of Twitter users are looking for a legit alternative. While being Meta being the largest Social media company can fill the void. It is also anticipated that Meta to create a different platform for the users who have lost their trust in Twitter after a long-fought controversial battle by Elon Musk, one of the richest persons in the world. Even though we have seen a large of users boycott Elon for this arbitrary move. Now they are looking for other alternatives having similar writing-friendly features in minimal words. One of the similar microblogging apps called Mastodon is also getting popularity being a microblogging platform like Twitter. Even many people have installed but it is far behind what Twitter offers.
Meta has the sheer advantage of having the largest customer base which it wants to disrupt Twitter by creating its own platform. Another major benefit of Meta is its large number of creators and artists linked on platforms such as Instagram, Whatsapp & Facebook.
They are analysing from a different perspective to migrate the audience from Twitter by creating rewards and ways to incentivise their creativity just by offering more monetary benefits. Additionally, they will be adding in-app features such as the option to follow accounts that they already followed on Instagram & Facebook. More intuitive features such as editing posts at any point in time which Twitter lacks.
All in all, Meta has full potential to disrupt the market of Twitter and end in dominance in microblogging with its much anticipated Project 92 platform.
