Manchester City Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has revealed that Manchester City fans should expect more signings this summer. according to Khaldoon, Manchester City is ready to strengthen each department within the team.
The Citizens have already announced the signing of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez from Dortmund and River Plate respectively. Manchester United is also reported to have agreed on personal terms with Leeds United and England midfielder Kelvin Philips.
With the likes of Raheem sterling sterling and Gabriel Jesus expected to leave Manchester City this summer as Mikel Arteta is keen to boost his attack with two stars.
The Citizens are expected to be busy in the transfer window.
What did Khaldoon say?
Speaking on Manchester City’s official website, He said: “I can confirm that there will be more players coming in.
“We are looking to strengthen the team in the areas that we need strengthening. As you know, every season some players leave, and then we have to continuously refresh the team.
“Again, we will always look at improving and strengthening. I think we’ve made two very important additions already, but I anticipate we’ll be doing a couple more.
“We’ll try to go as fast as we can, but you know how the market goes. It’s not always entirely in our control.”
Khaldoon Al Mubarak also confirmed that Manchester City is not signing any player for signing seek but will only sign a player that will add value to the squad.
Khaldoon said: “With Pep and with this team it’s not just about filling a position.
“We have reached a level of quality, a standard in which we cannot and will not compromise on quality.
“If we find the right player for that particular position, we will get that player and if not, Pep has shown us he will find solutions within the quality of the group we have and within the quality of the academy.
“We’re in a different position to the one we were in many years ago. We have so much talent available within the squad and the academy that when we need something, it’s very specific and it’s very deliberate.
“If we’re able to bring that particular player, great, and if not, it doesn’t mean anybody can fill it. We are in a different paradigm from that perspective.”
Meanwhile, Khaldoon Al Mubarak also commented on Pep Guardiola’s contract renewal claiming there is no need to put too much pressure on Pep Guardiola.
Khaldoon continued: “You don’t need to put any extra pressure on Pep, he puts enough pressure on himself for everyone.
“It is the exact opposite. I try to bring back the pressure because I think he puts too much pressure on himself. The pressure is not on winning this competition or that competition. We are all in it together.
” Sheikh Mansour looks at the game, understands the game, and understands winning and losing very very well which is why his ethos, his philosophy I have tried to instill in this organization, and what we have had in these last games is positive constructive forward-leaning, always pushing forward.
“We approach every season to win and to try to win every competition we compete in. That is the mindset that has been the case over the last 10 years.
“We try to win every competition we play and I think part of it is that when you are asking about Pep you cannot argue every competition from the Champions League to the Premier League to the FA Cup. We show up every game with full intention to give it everything we have to win every game. With that, you can see the results.”
Khaldoon also insisted that Pep Guardiola is at the right place looking at the time he has spent at Manchester City.
“Pep has never stayed as long as he’s stayed here with any club, be it Barcelona or Bayern Munich. So, the question is perfectly valid.
“It was perfectly valid last year and three years ago, and of course this year. It is a partnership that has done wonders in years.
“It is approaching its seventh year and next year is going to be an exciting chapter of his partnership and we’re enjoying every moment of it. We’re achieving great things together and this conversation will be had at the right time, at the right place, and with the pace, time, and framework that works for Pep.”
