Police are trying to find out whether anyone else is inside a Kansas City residence where two people have emerged following a long standoff on Wednesday morning.
Tuesday night, three Kansas City police officers were shot and wounded while executing a search warrant at the residence.
According to Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves, when the officers tried to enter the house, they were attacked with gunfire.
The three injured policemen, according to Graves, were all male. She contacted them at the hospital and reported that it seemed like their wounds were t life-threatening.
Around 9:30 p.m., a shooting took place near East 23rd Street and Blue Ridge Boulevard.
A standoff with the suspect began as a result of the shot. There were several police departments present.
According to Graves, the officers did exchange shots, although it’s unknown if any other injuries occurred. As of early Wednesday morning, no suspect was in custody.
Lucas stated, “In Kansas City, we’ve been reminded too often lately how deadly the police job can be. “I am hoping for a speedy recovery for our three officers who were hurt this evening, as well as for everyone on duty to return safely to their families.”
