Chelsea has been in the news since the summer transfer window opened. There were reports that certain players had been informed that they were not in Chelsea’s new manager Enzo Maresca’s plans for the season.
Conor Gallagher’s inclusion was seen as a surprise by Chelsea and football Premier League fans. The 24-year-old English international has been at the club since he was six years old and raised through the ranks to the senior team, including captaining various levels.
Gallagher was sent on loan four times before breaking through the Chelsea first in the 2022/2023 season. Last season, Conor Gallagher was one of Chelsea’s main men under Mauricio Pochettino and Captained the side throughout the season following the injury to the first-choice captain, Reece James.
After a back-and-forth between Chelsea and Atletico Madrid, the English international completed a £36 million move to the Spanish giants. Chelsea legend John Terry described the move in a social media post, stating that he felt “Gutted” to see the Chelsea deputy captain leave after 18 years at the club.

Following his move to Atletico Madrid, Gallagher issued an emotional farewell on Instagram, saying, “To everyone at Chelsea, thank you for making my dreams come true.
“It’s been an absolute honor every time I put on the shirt, and it was a dream come true to captain the team on many occasions. I loved every moment.
“These memories will last forever. I appreciate all the love and support from the fans. Hearing the chant of my name at the Bridge is a special feeling, and the banner you displayed meant the world to me.
“Thank you for everything. I wish the club all the best for the future, and I hope to see you all soon at Stamford Bridge!
