Arsenal are enjoying a brilliant start to the season both domestically and in Europe.
The Gunners are top of the Premier League and topped their Europe League group. Arsenal have lost only two games this season, one in the Premier League against Manchester United and Europe League against PSV.
Mikel Arteta’s side are top of the Premier League with 31 points, 10 points ahead of Chelsea who are on 21 points.
Joe Cole is a big fan of the project and the job Mikel Arteta is currently doing at Arsenal but insists Chelsea can achieve more than Arsenal this season as he is not convinced Arsenal can maintain their form through the season.
What did Joe Cole say?
The former Chelsea midfield said on the Sun: “We have to be very mindful of what’s happening at Arsenal because nothing has paid off as of yet.
“Arsenal have set high standards for themselves.
“I do like what they’re doing. I enjoy watching Arsenal play, which I haven’t said for a long time.
“I like Mikel Arteta and what he does, how he sets up the team and I like the young players.
“Nothing significant has been achieved at Arsenal as of yet with their high standards, but they’re on the right path.
“Chelsea have battled at a different level over the last 20 years. We have to say that.
“Chelsea are the most successful team in the country over the last 20 years.
“I still feel Chelsea can more than compete and go above Arsenal very soon.”
Meanwhile, former Arsenal player forward Kevin Campbell claims no Chelsea player will get into Arsenal Team.
He said on TalkSport: “None at the moment.
“I’ve got to say that. It is harsh, but the only one who you can say has played up to standard, up to scratch, or maybe above is Kepa [Arrizabalaga].
“Kepa has been outstanding, but I think when you look at what Arsenal have done this season, the numbers are where they are in the table, I don’t think any Chelsea player gets into that [team].
“I am not saying Chelsea players are not top, when they are on fire probably more Chelsea players would get into this squad than Arsenal players, but they have just not been performing.”
Graham Potter has also praised Mikel Arteta for the job he has done at Arsenal.
He said: “They’ve recruited well in the summer. [Oleksandr] Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus know what you need to do to win and they’ve also carried on their idea. It’s a really good example of how success can come. He’s had to face some pressure from the outside, but the club have stayed supportive and stuck to their ideas.
“The younger players have got more game-time and become more experienced. And as I’ve said before, generally the coaching experience becomes the more you’re working. So it’s a combination of hard work from their perspective, sticking with their ideas, support from around, and good recruitment.”
