Jeffrey Wright is a well-known American film actor who was born on December 7, 1965, in Washington, D.C., in the United States of America, under the zodiac sign of Sagittarius, with the nationality of American and mixed ethnicity. He was born to Barbara Evon, a customs lawyer, and James Charles Wright, Jr., who died when he was a child.
Wright attended St. Albans School for Boys. After graduation, he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Amherst College in Massachusetts. Even though he planned on attending law school, he later chose acting as his career. He enrolled in the MFA acting program at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University for two months in 1988 before leaving to perform in Lorraine Hansberry’s “Les Blancs” at the Arena Stage in Washington, D.C. The play eventually transferred to Boston’s Huntington Theatre Company.

Wright started performing off-Broadway in New York City and Washington, DC. Alongside Harrison Ford, he made his film debut in the 1990 movie “Presumed Innocent.” In 1991, he joined The Acting Theatre, a national traveling repertory company founded by John Houseman, to perform in productions of Athol Fugard’s Blood Knot and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Then he starred in the movies “Jumpin’ at the Boneyard” (1991), “Faithful” (1996), “Critical Care” (1997), “Too Tired to Die” (1998), “Celebrity” (1998), and “Ride with the Devil” (1999). He also played artist Jean-Michel Basquiat in the 1996 film “Basquiat.”
