The attack happened on Friday, and police say a car hit a gathering of people near a coastal park in Tel Aviv and flipped over. According to an EMT who was on the site, the driver of the car was shot and killed by police.
According to the EMT, at least one civilian was injured. According to police, the driver of the vehicle was firing a firearm from the vehicle.
According to the Israeli Foreign Ministry, the incident constituted a “terror attack.”
The incident on Friday was classified as a shooting attack by Israel’s rescue services.
Hamas welcomed the Tel Aviv attack as a retaliation to Israel’s “crimes against Al-Aqsa Mosque and worshippers.”
The strike comes at a time of rising tensions between Israel and Hamas, as well as the start of the Jewish Passover on Wednesday. The Muslim holy month of Ramadan is also ongoing.
