The authorities have taken into custody a man suspected of shooting a police officer in the face in southern California and then engaging SWAT in a protracted standoff.
According to statements made by Arcadia Police Department Lieutenant Brett Bourgeous during a news conference, the Arcadia police were summoned to the scene on Wednesday at around 5:40 p.m. in response to a report of a man with a gun “disturbing the peace.”
Bourgeous claims that two brothers were involved in the event, and one of the brothers was armed throughout the altercation.
As the police were approaching, the armed suspect fired, causing a facial wound to one of the officers. During the subsequent firefight, a lady who was a family member and a random passerby were both wounded, as reported by The News God. Both of these individuals died as a result of their wounds.
