Causes of smelly feet

You sweat a lot from your feet. Compared to any other area of the body, they have the most sweat glands. These glands produce sweat all day long to help you stay cool and maintain moist skin.

Everyone’s feet perspire, but teenagers and pregnant women are more likely to have extremely perspirant feet because of the hormones their bodies release to increase perspiration. People with sweatier feet tend to be those who spend their entire workday on their feet, are under a lot of stress, or have a medical condition that causes them to perspire more than others. On the foot, there are naturally some bacteria. As sweat is spilled onto the feet, these bacteria assist in breaking it down. A bad odor may develop if perspiration and microorganisms accumulate. When someone sweats in their shoes, takes them off, and then puts them back on without giving them a chance to properly dry, more bacteria are likely to grow.

Feet odor can also be brought on by poor hygiene. Insufficient foot washing or failing to change your socks at least once daily can promote the growth of more bacteria on your feet. This might make your feet smell worse.
