Born Andre Romelle Young to Father Theodore Young and Mother Verna Young on February 18, 1965, in Compton, California.
He started his education at Vanguard Junior High School in Compton, he was transferred to Roosevelt Junior High school because of gang violence. He had his first year at Centennial high school in Compton in 1979 but due to poor grades, he transferred to Fremont High School in South Central Los Angeles.
Dr. Dre decided to focus on entertainment after he failed to secure an apprenticeship program at Northrop Aviation Company because of his poor grades. He attended Chester Adult School after High School.
He broke to fame in 1991 as a member of the rap group N.W.A. In the same year, he also co-founded Death Row Record. Dr. Dre release his solo album The Chronic in 1992. Dr. Dre founded Aftermath Entertainment in 1996. The record label had stars like Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent, and Eminem.
In 2006, he decided to venture into entrepreneurship by establishing his earphone business named Beat by Dre (Beat Electronics).
In 2014, he sold Beat by Electronics to Apple Inc. for $3.4 million.
