Z-Library’s Rebirth as a Partner for Education
Z-Library has gone through a dramatic change over the past year. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, the once banned digital library is back and stronger than ever.
After facing some trouble last year, Z-Library has returned as a reinvented non-profit with a mission to bring knowledge to the masses. Specifically, over 14 million texts serve students and teachers at over 30,000 institutions globally. With over 600,000 users, predominantly students and teachers in South America, Asia, and Africa, Z-Library’s goal is to promote a free flow of information.
Over the years, students have been hampered by paywalls to access information needed for classes, or they’d have to rely on the information provided by the teacher. Often hampered by the same restrictions, the teacher would have to source texts for students to study. Z-Library is changing this. Now, both users can easily find texts they need with the relevant information they’re studying. AI search tools have streamlined the search process to bring results that are pertinent to the search and not reliant on paid advertising.
For the schools using Z-Library, the access is a godsend. Not all universities come with hefty donors or budgets like those in more privileged countries. And for students in underserved communities, the ability to access books and information without a physical library, which is often the case in many places, allows them to continue to learn and grow.
Some areas and users may not have as reliable a connection as a university, and Z-Library is expanding to address those needs. With the introduction of the Interlibrary, Z-Library has brought over 150 physical book locations throughout 42 countries around the world. These locations, called Z-Points, offer physical books. Users can visit a Z-Point, check out a book, and continue studying at home. If users have a book to share, they can easily register it with their camera phone and bring it to the Z-Point. The Interlibrary plans to expand further in the coming year to include more locations and allow books to be exchanged via mail.
