According to the majority whip of the House of Representatives, Tom Emmer, who spoke with Fox News Digital, the move by Vice President Joe Biden to protect Chinese solar firms demonstrates “weakness from an already spineless administration.”
On Friday morning, the House of Representatives voted to overturn a decision made by Vice President Biden in 2018 that exempts Chinese manufacturers of solar panels from tariffs imposed by former President Obama.
The resolution was approved by the House with a vote count of 221-202, with 209 Republicans voting in favor and 12 Democrats voting against it. The resolution was first introduced in January by a group of politicians from both parties, led by Representative Bill Posey (R-Florida) and supported by Representative Dan Kildee (D-Michigan), who said that tariffs were necessary in order to protect the fledgling solar industry in the United States from the onslaught of Chinese business.
“Joe Biden’s decision to protect Communist China’s solar manufacturers from U.S. tariffs is another demonstration of weakness from an already spineless administration,” said House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, R-Minn, in an interview with the Media. “Joe Biden’s decision to protect Communist China’s solar manufacturers from U.S. tariffs is another demonstration of weakness from an already spineless administration.”
The White House has failed to hold China accountable, but Republicans in the House are taking the initiative to work across party lines to get rid of this “absurd rule,” as he referred to it.
