Due to a nearby situation involving heavily armed authorities, a Waterford Township school was placed on lockdown on Friday.
Momentum Academy’s principal, Katie Alexander, confirmed the school was on lockdown as students arrived on Friday morning. A police situation on Lakeview Street near Huron Street was reported to school officials.
Police haven’t released any specific information about the incident, but they did confirm around 7:50 a.m. Friday (April 23) that residents on Lakeview Street had been asked to shelter in place. Police said they had called all of the residents.
Just before noon, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office announced that their response to the scene was complete and that no one was injured.
