Twenty-five days into the campaign, Harris has yet to hold a formal news conference or sit-down interview.
Social media users criticized Vice President Kamala Harris and her running companion for 2024, Governor Tim Walz, for publishing excerpts from an online “scripted and fake” interview while continuing to avoid interviews.
Twenty-five days into Harris’s presidential campaign, she hasn’t held a formal news conference or sit-down interview, but she and Walz have published snippets of their interview to build excitement around the ticket. Conservative opponents ridiculed the video, claiming it summed up Harris’s whole campaign’s falsity.
Blaire White, a conservative pundit on X, questioned, “So your response to accusations of hiding from interviews is to put out a scripted conversation?” after seeing the footage.
The film in question showed the two jokingly recalling the phone conversation Harris made to invite Walz to be her running mate. It was excerpted from a larger discussion between the Democratic ticket that will be released on Thursday.
Harris made fun of Walz for not returning the first call. “Tim, I gave you a call. Tim, I gave you a call.” Walz, appearing shy, answered, “Yes.” “Tim, you didn’t respond,” the vice president went on.
“I am aware. Yes, I am aware. The call of my life, the most significant. It appeared, and since we couldn’t identify the caller ID, it went to voicemail,”
The video then cut to Harris stating, “Hey Tim, this is Kamala,” while she was listening to Walz’s voicemail. I’d really like to speak with you.”
After then, the focus returned to the two candidates, and Walz remarked, “This is an incredible honor. I’m thrilled. All I want is to share in the enthusiasm you’re creating.”
At the conclusion of the video, Harris said, “Well, we’re doing it together, buddy.” The video was posted by her official account with the words, “I could not imagine a better partner than @Tim_Walz to lead our campaign.”
In a single day, the video clip garnered almost two million views on X, despite several comments criticizing it for being unauthentic and uncomfortable.
Two conservative pundits “How many times did y’all act this out before you got it right?” inquired the Hodge Twins. entirely staged and fraudulent.”
‘Fakest s— I’ve ever seen,’ declared prominent conservative account “End Wokeness” in reference to the video.
The two were criticized by author Hans Mahncke for doing interviews with one another instead of the media. “OMG they can’t do interviews so instead they talk to each other and hope we don’t notice the difference,” he wrote.
Writer Steve Krakauer stated, “Well, they conducted an interview at last. (Any journalist worth their salt should be indignant.)”
Mocking Harris’ demeanor in the video, pro-Trump social media personality ALX said, “Normal people totally say the person’s name they’re talking to three times in the first three seconds.”
The video footage was deemed by conservative talk radio personality Cash Loren as “Another scripted fake and cringe phone call.”
