“This is a security failure again,” said the Fox News host.
Fox News host Sean Hannity weighed in on Sunday’s news conference by the law enforcement authorities over the murder attempt on former President Trump.
“I gotta tell you, it’s disconcerting. Now, to give you an idea of a timeline as to what happened before the shooting: The president checked a report. Pop, pop, pop, they heard. That was a gunshot, they knew. In a matter of seconds, the president was on the ground protected by brave Secret Service personnel, Hannity said. “But not to have that perimeter with a fence… somebody can get within that range of the president with a scope on an AK-47 is just simply unacceptable.”
Hannity said that law enforcement “are essentially saying that the protection given to a presidential candidate is ‘exactly what it should have been’.” They said, ‘Well, he’s not the president right now.’ He’s a former president who just had an assassination attempt on his life recently. Answers are needed,” Hannity said. “The security threat is real.”
“What stopped them from having any security cameras? Why didn’t those have any motion detectors on them? Why wasn’t someone from outside seeing this from the street where the gunman was hiding? .There really is no other term to characterize that other than it is a security lapse,” he said. “It’s a miracle that man is alive today.”
The FBI said it responded to a reported second attempt on the life of former President Trump at Trump International Golf Club and is now investigating. The FBI has its offices in West Palm Beach, Florida. According to law enforcement sources, Fox News has learned that the suspect is identified as Ryan Wesley Routh. When agents shot the killer, he was armed with a weapon.
Soon after the incident, Trump issued a statement, saying, “My name is Donald J. Trump. DO NOT FEEL AFRAID! Nobody was hurt, and I’m fine. Thank God! However, there are those in this world who will do anything they can to stop us. I will never let you down. I refuse to give up! You have my undying gratitude for your support. By use of our UNITY we will Make America Great Again!”
It’s now been roughly two months since Trump was the victim of an attempted murder plot at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
“And this is something the media cannot ignore. I hope no elected official ever feels they are in a threatening situation. I want our country to be safe and secure, and this is in no way political for me,” Hannity said.
