A Texas Chicken named Pearl has been named the Oldest Chicken in the World by the Guinness World Records at the age of 14 years and 69 days old.
According to the owner, Sonya Hull, Pearl was hatched in her personal incubator on March 13, 2011, in Little Elm, Texas.
Pearl was officially named the world’s oldest chicken alive by Guinness World Records on May 22, when they confirmed Pearl’s age.
Sonya Hull, in a video posted by the Guinness World Records, said, “She’s defied all odds because most Easter-Egger Hens live an average of five to eight years.
“She is welcome to come out into the living room, because she likes to watch TV when she hears it on.
“She doesn’t seem to mind the other animals, and the kitten will sometimes sit with her.”
According to Sonya, Peal’s egg production has reduced, but it laid an egg the day it was named the world’s oldest chicken alive.
