Chelsea will host Manchester United on Saturday at 17:30 UK time at Stamford Bridge.
The blues are fourth on the Premier League table with 20 points, one point more than their opponent Manchester United who are fifth with 19 points.
Graham Potter has already defeated Manchester United and Erik Ten Hag on the opening day of the Premier League with Brighton at Old Trafford.
Erik Ten Hag’s side has bounced back from their opening two defeats to record 6 wins out of their last 8 Premier League matches.
Chelsea manager Graham Potter had to identify Marcus] Rashford, Anthony, Jadon Sancho, and Bruno Fernandes as the key threat to Manchester United.
What did Graham Potter say?
Speaking at a press conference ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League encounter with Manchester United, Graham Potter said: “A lot. I have huge respect for [Erik] Ten Hag, the job he’s done in his career, and his quality as a coach. You can see people adapt and adjust as they go into the competition faze. So, they have done well. Obviously, it wasn’t a great start from their perspective, but they’ve battled back, got points, and played well. It’s going to be a tough game.
“They’ve changed a little in how they build up, they are a little bit more direct. At the same time, they have the same quality. They have the threats of [Marcus] Rashford, Anthony, [Jadon] Sancho and Bruno Fernandes play a key role for them. So there are a lot of similarities but they seem to have adapted to the competition, adapted to each other, and learned more about each other. It’s a normal process really.
“I’d been at Brighton for three years when we played them and Erik had been at Manchester United six weeks if that, so there is a lot of learning you need to do and a process that you need to go through. That’s normal. He has the quality and naturally, they will get better and better as time goes on.”
Reacting to Erik Ten Hag’s comment that he knows more about him (Graham Potter) after his defeat against Brighton, Potter added: “No, not really. It’s a game of football and it’s always the same. You have to analyze the opponent and think of a way you can play yourself. But Manchester United are Manchester United, they have got top players and are galvanizing into an impressive team. It’s a tough game, an exciting game, and a fantastic game to be involved in. We’re looking forward to it.”
After just six weeks in charge of Chelsea, you can see the blueprint of Graham Potter in the way Chelsea plays.
Graham Potter continued: “Six weeks is quite a short time to really get my true and wonderful personality onto a team! It depends on who you listen to you take opinion from that. The personality is that of the players at the moment, absolutely.
“They’ve understood there is a challenge to be had and they’ve taken it up. They’ve been brilliant, really honest, and responsible. So the personality is all them. You’ve got to wait for my boring one to emerge!”
