‘American energy was President Biden’s number one target for unrelenting regulation and administrative overreach,’ a key Republican tells Fox News Digital.
ON FOX FIRST: Republicans on the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee are issuing a report detailing their accomplishments on energy and oversight issues until 2023.
According to the paper, “Countering Biden’s Radical Green Agenda with Rigorous Oversight & Real Solutions,” EPW Republicans “opposed President Biden’s regulatory overreach” while supporting bipartisan legislation. It also highlights victories in infrastructure development, energy generation, and overcoming federal environmental laws.
Ranking member of the EPW Committee Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., said in a statement to Fox News Digital, “This year, President Biden’s number one target for relentless regulation and executive overreach was American energy, mandating an unrealistic climate agenda that proved costly to American families and harmful to nearly every sector of the economy.”
“In 2023, EPW Republicans set out to expose the negative impacts of these policies, conduct crucial oversight, and importantly, offer logical, bipartisan energy and environmental alternatives that — unlike the proposals of climate activists in the Biden administration — are actually based in reality,” she said.
According to the study, committee Republicans are committed to establishing a strong economy, making sure federal agencies adhere to the law, opposing extreme climate policies, exposing fraud, abuse, and waste, and changing how agencies manage and spend taxpayer funds.
“President Biden’s radical climate agenda has been rejected time and time again by Democrats and Republicans in Congress, the U.S. Supreme Court, and the American public,” said Moore Capito. “This report tells that story and shows there is a better way, and I’m proud of the continued work of all our members.”
The Revitalizing the Economy by Simplifying Timelines and Assuring Regulatory Transparency Act, a piece of legislation presented by Republicans that would expedite the environmental permitting process for major infrastructure projects, is named as one of the report’s top accomplishments.
Republicans on the committee have worked to oversee the Biden administration’s carbon capture technology approval delays in order to achieve the same purpose.
Furthermore, the approval of the 303-mile Mountain Valley Pipeline, which was a part of the bipartisan Fiscal Responsibility Act, which President Biden signed early in June, was made possible by the panel’s GOP participation.
Additionally, six Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolutions, or legislation that revoke a specific government rulemaking, were passed this year by both parties and were originally introduced by EPW Republicans. These include the so-called Waters of the United States rule, development being blocked by wildlife protection, and CRAs repealing rules intended to electrify the trucking industry.
The report claims that the actions of Republicans directly resulted in a revision to the Waters of the United States rule and a reduction in Federal Highway Administration restrictions.
The “Good Neighbor Rule,” which aims to phase down the use of fossil fuels for power generation, oversight efforts against the Environmental Protection Agency’s power plant regulations, and particulate matter regulations that could significantly increase costs for the manufacturing sector are also highlighted in the report.
