Saturday, German police announced the arrest of a 61-year-old man in connection with a hand grenade and knife attack in Berlin that left three persons injured.
Two 42-year-old women and a 61-year-old man were injured after a grenade was detonated at the entrance of an apartment building in the Reinickendorf suburb of the German capital, according to police.
The suspect then allegedly raced toward two of the victims and used a knife to attack and injure them.
Each victim was transported to the hospital. The victim sustained injuries that were life-threatening, according to a police statement.
The offender then fled. Afterward, police arrested the culprit in a nearby yard.
The police were still investigating probable motives for the crime and the suspect’s relationship to the victims. They did not reveal any information regarding the attacker’s or victims’ identities, as is typical in Germany.
According to the German news agency dpa, the alleged assailant is a Serb, as are the two women, while the injured man is from Bosnia-Herzegovina.
