Former England and Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor have criticized Graham Potter’s tactical rotations and the decision not to start Ben Chilwell and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang against Brighton on Saturday.
The blues lost their first games under Graham Potter after five matches against Brighton in the Premier League. Chelsea had gone nine games with loss since Graham Potter took charge.
Chelsea did not just lose the game but conceded four goals, which was more than the number of goals they had conceded in those matches.
Many Pundits have slammed Graham Potter’s tactics for the game and decision not to start some players that were involved in their Champions League win over RB Salzburg.
Notable omissions were Ben Chilwell and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, who were later introduced in the second half.
However, Gabby Agbonlahor does not understand why the two players did not start and also slammed Chelsea’s £60 million summer signing Marc Cucurella.
What did Gabby Agbonlahor say?
The Former Aston Villa striker said on TalkSports: “When I watch Cucurella since he’s been at Chelsea… maybe [there are] two games maximum where he looked OK.
“He got dragged off after 36 minutes against Manchester United and was sacrificed for [the change of] formation, today [he was] sacrificed in the 64th minute.
“£60million they paid for him… and you’ve got Ben Chilwell sitting on the bench. Why is Aubameyang not starting? Why is Chilwell not starting? These players can play two games in a week.
“There’s only a few weeks before the World Cup so these players can play more often than Potter wants to play them.
“There’s been too much rotation and Cucurella looks like a bad £60m spent by Chelsea for me.”
Meanwhile, Gabby Agbonlahor has urged Leandro Trossard to move to a bigger club like Chelsea or Arsenal.
The Belgian international has been sensational in the Premier League this season. Leandro Trossard has scored 7 goals and provided 2 assists in 12 appearances for Brighton.
His contract ends at the end of the summer and Gabby Agbonlahor has urged Brighton to sell their star man.
Chelsea could be a possible destination for the Belgian international because of his relationship with Graham Potter.
Agbonlahor said: “He’s improved so much. He’s adding goals as well, he’s a threat.
“The goal he scored [against Chelsea], composure, into the corner of the net and he could be one that regularly starts for Belgium.
“He’s going to attract a lot of clubs over Europe. Premier League clubs as well. I think he could do a job at Arsenal, Chelsea, and Spurs.
“So I think now he’s playing like he is, maybe January, if Brighton can get a bit of money for him, they might sell him in January.”
Chelsea could get Leandro Trossard for cheap as he has less than a year left on his contract with Brighton.
