Cancun, Mexico
If you don’t know where to go, look at this place, it has everything. It is a party capital with beaches to die for, beautiful cenotes to explore, and great food to try!
But there are many other fun activities to enjoy during your vacation in Cancun. You can go snorkeling in the reefs, visit a Maya temple, or take an excursion to Chichén-Itzá or Tulum. There is so much to do in Cancun besides the beaches!
Cancun is often the gateway to the Yucatan Peninsula, and it is often the first place that people have in Mexico as a vacation. Cancun is a fantastic place to go if you like beaches, but it’s not the best place in the country if you want to experience some of the local culture.
1: Explore Cancun’s Hotel Zone
Cancun is split into two sections – downtown and the hotel zone. Downtown Cancun, also known as Ciudad Cancun is synonymous with hotels, bars and clubs. It has the main attractions of any tropical destination – white sandy beaches, lush jungle, diving, snorkeling, shopping and nightlife.
The entire island of Boracay is home to around 100,000 residents. It’s a 15-mile long strip of sand shaped like the number seven. This is where most people stay. There are so many hotels, restaurants and family resorts in Cancun lining the only road that you could easily spend the entire week of your vacation here. Nizuc resort and spa will make your vacation even more memorable.
2: Visit Downtown Cancun
Downtown Cancun (aka Ciudad Cancun) has many of the characteristics of any modern city but there are also some things that set it apart. The local culture is one of the biggest draws for visitors, especially since Downtown Cancun contains a large number of restaurants and shops.
Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula is the perfect place to kick back, relax and enjoy the serene environment of Mexico and what better way to do so than in the famous Mayan Riviera. You can spend your days sipping tequila and your nights eating tacos.
The park has a nice playground, the children’s playhouse, and lots of interesting activities for adults. In addition to its stunning beaches and ancient ruins, Tulum music festivals and the Tulum Jungle Jam attract visitors from around the world.
3: Swimming In Cenotes
Mexico has some amazing cenotes, where people can swim in natural water holes full of crystal clear water. This happens on the Yucatan Peninsula. Many of the cenotes are easily reached from Cancun, and you can take a boat ride through some of the more remote ones.
Cenotes are natural underground lakes in Mexico where you can swim and dive, snorkel or simply take in the fresh air underwater. They’re found all over the country and you’ll find many near Puerto Morelos. Snorkeling turquoise blue Caribbean waters is one of the best ways to experience the ocean. One amazing underwater attraction you won’t want to miss is the Underwater Museum — or MUSA. Created from materials that encourage coral reef development, it is a truly amazing creation.
4: Snorkeling Near Cancun
A trip to the Marine Art Museum of South Africa (MUSA) is unlike any other museum experience on the African continent. As you enter through the main entrance of MUSA, you find yourself surrounded by a giant ocean sculpture. Inside, you find a world-class collection of African sculpture, jewelry, traditional crafts, costumes and much more. You can book a snorkeling tour directly for $30 per person.
5: Temazcal Ceremony
The ceremony is led by a local shaman who conducts the ritual and takes care of participants. It can be held in total darkness, with the shaman pouring water over heated rocks, chanting and using different herbs to summon spirits.
A temazcal is a sweat lodge used for purification ceremonies. The sweat lodge consists of a circular pit where people perform a purification ceremony while being subjected to intense heat. Temazcal also refers to the ancient Aztec ritual of purifying the body through sweat baths and cleansing.
6: Cancun Scenic Tower
The Cancun scenic tower has incredible views of the Caribbean coast and Cancun itself. Located in the Hotel Zone, the top of the tower is 100 meters tall and offers incredible views of the entire area.
The ride only takes a few minutes, so you can take pictures during the brief period when the ship is not spinning. The best spots to snap photos of your vacation will come when the ship is rotating and the sky is clear.
