Mason Mount missed the crucial penalty in Chelsea’s match against Tottenham this week in the Carabao Cup, and he looked distraught afterwards.
Eric Dier went to comfort him on the pitch in the immediate aftermath, and in his press conference today Frank Lampard was asked how the midfielder had reacted, and how the team had helped him in the dressing room after.
Nizaar Kinsella of Goal.com had the quotes on his Twitter feed:

Lampard on loaning players like Hudson-Odoi, Tomori and Loftus-Cheek: “With every player in the squad, you consider what’s best for the players. With those three players, I haven’t got an answer.” #CFC

Lampard explained that everyone had rallied round the midfielder, and pointed out that he shouldn’t feel too torn up about it, given the superb impact he’s made in the last 12 months overall.
He also speculated that Mason was going to go on to have far greater successes in the future, which would probably eclipse this Carabao Cup fourth round miss.
It will hurt, there’s no question about that, but Lampard has been through similar things himself, and along with the rest of the team, he is perfectly placed to help Mount move on.
