If you’re not sure what to eat in Hanoi, this guide will suggest some of the greatest local dishes you should try. You should be aware that different varieties of food can be found in different locations of Vietnam.

1. Ca Phe Trung

A mixture of caffeine, sugar, and spices in a cup of steaming hot coffee is the quintessential Vietnamese experience. There are several different types of coffee drinks in Vietnam, including iced coffee, hot coffee, coffee ice cream, and even kimchi coffee!

2. Banh Cuon

It’s a steamed rice noodle roll stuffed with ground pork and mushrooms. Traditional Western breakfast is very similar to this dish. It’s often served with a side of cucumbers, bean sprouts, and Vietnamese pork sausage.

The dish can be eaten for breakfast, a snack or even as a light meal. Whatever you decide, the dish is easy on the stomach and can be enjoyed by all!

3. Bun Cha

It’s very similar to a dish that is commonly called “Bun Thit Nuong”. It’s also a great option to consider while Authentic Bun Cha Hanoi. You’ll find that this popular and widely available dish is everywhere – from fast food joints to mom-and-pop stores.

4. BanhXeo

Banh xeo is often called sizzling pancake, but actually it sounds more like a crispy pancake. That’s because when cooked, it makes a crisp sound that resembles the sizzling sound made by a frying pan. Banh xeo is often referred to as the Vietnamese version of a crepe.

5. Xoi Xeo

This is a great breakfast option. In Vietnamese cuisine, sticky rice is a common element. Despite the fact that some people dislike sticky rice, xoi xeo is a dish that you must taste in Hanoi. Yellow sticky rice is topped with mung beans and fried shallots in a dish known as xoi xeo.

6. Oc Luoc Xa

You’re in for a delightful surprise. Snails are indeed a staple food in Hanoi. A popular snail dish is oc luoc xa, which is eaten when visiting the city.

Ocllo is not only a popular food, but it is also a common item for sale. Snails may be cooked and served in shells. They can taste really bland but you will love it because it is absolutely delicious with the dipping sauce.

7. Cha Ca

Cha ca is an iconic dish of Hanoi that originated from the northern province of the same name.

This delectable fish is frequently served with rice vermicelli noodles. This Vietnamese dish is very difficult to find outside of the country.

8. Kem Xoi

The most popular are the steamed sticky rice cakes topped with ice cream. The Pandan sticky rice cakes are slightly sweet but are topped with thick creamy ice cream that is also covered with toasted coconut flakes. Kem xoi is available in almost every ice cream shop in the city.

9. Bun Rieu

Bun Rieu is a famous Vietnamese noodle soup, traditionally served at lunch and dinner. The name comes from the French word “bun” meaning noodles, but it can also be spelled as “bun ruoi” or “bun reo”.

It’s a dish with a variety of healthy and nutritious ingredients – especially the mushrooms.

10. Pho

Pho is actually not just one dish in Vietnam, but rather many different variants. Did you know that pho can be made in many different ways?

If you’re wanting a steaming cup of noodle soup, you’ll get it almost anywhere in Vietnam.

Pho, Vietnamese soup, is commonly served in international Vietnamese restaurants but it may not be as cheap and authentic as eating it in Vietnam.
