The man from California who had threatened to kill the Republican representative for Florida, Matt Gaetz, has been given a sentence by the Florida Department of Justice.
The United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida, Jason R. Coody, announced on Thursday that Eugene Huelsman, 59, of Thousand Oaks, pleaded guilty to one count of communication of a threat in interstate commerce and was sentenced to six months of home confinement as a result of his conviction.
“The protection of one’s freedom to speak freely is essential to democracies. Even if this person has been investigated in the past for making threats of violence of a similar nature, it is abundantly clear that the communication of threats of physical violence, in this case, constitutes a violation of the law.
According to what he stated, “With our law enforcement partners, we are devoted to ensuring the general public’s safety for all citizens.”
