This fall, students can watch PragerU movies in their classes to learn.
Florida is the first state to give PragerU legal permission to sell training materials.
Fox News Digital got a comment from the Florida Department of Education saying the tools aligned with the state’s new teaching standards.
“The Florida Department of Education looked at PragerU Kids and decided that the information meets Florida’s updated civics and government standards. “PragerU Kids is the same as many other resources that can be used as supplements in Florida schools at the district’s discretion,” a D.O.E. representative said.
“PragerU Kids did not bid to be a part of the 2022–2023 social studies curriculum acceptance. On the Instructional Materials page of the Department’s website, you can find a list of the materials that have been approved.
This fall, students can watch PragerU movies in their classes to learn. Most of the time, the films talk about politics and social problems like poverty, race, and the past of the United States.
PragerU sent a news statement saying, “More states are joining in and encouraging teachers to show their students PragerU’s educational videos and study guides.”
It says that in the past, teachers who showed PragerU movies in the classroom were fired.
“In the past, teachers who showed PragerU movies in the classroom got in trouble or were even fired. Now, PragerU videos are not only allowed in classes, but superintendents and education commissioners are pushing teachers to use PragerU’s material to teach their kids.
On YouTube, 2.35 million people follow PragerU.
Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida is in trouble because he signed a law that makes it harder to teach gender and critical race theory.
Most recently, they changed how African American history is taught.
Critics of the Florida D.O.E.’s new guidelines said they teach that blacks “benefited” from being slaves.
After the guidelines were made public, Kamala Harris, the vice president, and big groups like the N.A.A.C.P. and the Florida Education Association (F.E.A.) went after DeSantis.
DeSantis signed the Stop Wrongs to Our Kids and Employees Act (Stop W.O.K.E. Act) in 2022. This law makes teaching illegal in a way that makes it seem like a person’s race, color, national origin, or sex determines whether they are privileged or victimized.
