Liverpool and Brazilian midfielder Fabinho claims Mohamed salah can become Liverpool’s greatest player of all time.
Mohamed Salah signed a new three-year contract extension at Liverpool last earlier this month. The Egyptian international is expected to earn £350,000 a week which makes him the club’s highest earner.
Mohamed Salah has been one of the best players in the World since joining Liverpool and had formed a strong partnership with Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino in the Liverpool attack. The front three was considered one of the deadly trio in World football. The trio has scored incredibly 338 goals combined for Liverpool.
The trio also helped Liverpool win the Champions League, The FA Cup, The Carabao Cup, and the Premier League to end Liverpool 30 years run without a league title.
Sadio Mane left Liverpool for Bayern Munich this summer for £35 million.
However, Fabinho admits that Mohamed Salah’s decision to extend his contract beyond 2025 was an important decision following Sadio Mane’s existence and pledged to help him become Liverpool’s best player of all time.
What did Fabinho say about Salah extending his contract at Liverpool?
In an interview with The Athletic, The Liverpool defensive midfielder said: That [signing a new contract] was really important, especially after losing Sadio.
“We knew Mo had to stay in the team and keep playing with us. I am really happy for him that the contract got sorted. I think he’s happier than before.
“In the last five years, he’s been maybe the best player in this team and has shown how important he is for the club.”
Mohamed Salah is the 9th top goals scorer in Liverpool’s history with 156 goals in 254 appearances for Liverpool and he is already considered a legend by Fabinho.
The Brazilian midfielder added: “He is already a legend of Liverpool.
“With this new deal, he can go on to become the best player in the history of the club. I will really try to help him achieve this.”
The Brazilian also revealed his conversation with Sadio Mane to sway him from not joining Bayern Munich.
The 28-year-old Midfielder continued: “At the end of the season, I spoke a lot with Sadio. He told me about the situation and that he could leave.
“I was always saying to him: ‘Come on Sadio, stay here. You can win the Premier League and the Champions League right here, don’t leave. But I think he had already made up his mind. We had to respect that.
“Sadio had a really good story in a Liverpool shirt. He played for six years here and during that time he won everything you can win and he decided that he wanted a new challenge. That’s okay.
“After the parade in Liverpool, everyone said goodbye to him. We knew there was a good chance he would be leaving.
“I always kept some hope that he would still stay but then it was all confirmed.”
Liverpool is having their pre-season tour in Asia and had already played two pre-season friendly matches. They lost their first pre-season game by 4-0 against Manchester United and bounced back with a 2- 0. Victory over Crystal Palace.
