All the six group stage fixtures will be played within 8 weeks because of the 2022 World cup in November. The first group stage fixtures will be played on Tuesday, 6 September, and Wednesday, 7 September.

How many teams will compete in the 2022/2023 Champions League?
The 2022/2023 Champions League will comprise 32 teams. 26 out of the 32 clubs qualified automatically via their position in their respective domestic league. Clubs joined the remaining six slots via playoffs.
They drew the 32 teams into a group of Eight, each group containing four clubs. To be drawn into their respective groups, the 32 clubs are further divided into pots. Each pot contains eight teams.
Pot 1 contains the holder of the Champions League, the winner of the UEFA Europa League, and the Champions of the six best National League based on the UEFA Country coefficient.
The remaining 24 teams are potted based on clubs UEFA clubs coefficients.

When is the date for the draw for the Knockout stage of the 2022/2023 Champions League?
The draw for round 16 of the Champions League will take place on Monday, 7 November 2022. We expect the round of 16 to begin in February. The quarter-finals and Semi-finals will take place in April and May, respectively.
