Former Chelsea Midfielder Andy Townsend has urged new Manchester United coach Erik Ten Hag to sign West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen.
Erik Ten Hag will take over from Manchester United interim coach Ralf Rangnick next season. The former Ajax coach is expected to have a busy summer. Big names like Pogba, Juan Mata, and Nemanja Matic are expected to leave Old Trafford this summer.
The Dutch coach will be expected to replace all these players and also strengthen other departments except the Goalkeeping department where Manchester United seems to be in safe hands with David De Gea and Dean Henderson.
Manchester United interim coach Ralf Rangnick in a recent interview said Manchester United will need two or more strikers next season if they want to compete with Manchester City and Liverpool. He also reiterated the fact that except for the Goalkeeping department, Red Devils need to shore up their defense and the midfielder.
The likes of Declan Rice, Antony Dos Santos, Frenkie De Jong, and Tottenham and England skipper Harry Kane have been rumored to be pursued by Manchester United.
Former Chelsea and Ireland midfielder Andy Townsend believes Manchester United’s new manager should add the England international to the list mentioned above since he can contribute more to the Red Devils next season.
Jarrod Bowen has been sensational this season helping the Hammers reach the semi-finals of the Europa League and keep them in a pole position to qualify for either the Europa League or the conference League.
The England international has scored 18 goals and provided 13 assists in 50 appearances for West Ham this season including 12 goals and 12 assists in the Premier League.
with double figures in both goals and assists the West Ham forward had been tipped to be included in Garth Southgate squad for the World Cup in Qatar.Bowen has also been nominated for Premier League player of the season along Kelvin De Bruyne ,Mohamed Salah,Trent Alexander-Arnold,Joao Cancelo,Bukayo Saka, Son Heung-min and James Ward-Prowse.
What did Andy Townsend say?
Speaking on talkSPORT he said:” Jarrod Bowen has been great. He’s been so good lately.
“I tell you what, I bet you West Ham get a bid or two for him in the summer, I bet they do.
“Would you have him at Manchester United? Like a shot, you would.
“He can play anywhere. I’ve seen him play up the middle for West Ham, on one side. For United, he’d get in the team wherever he likes! I would play him off the right-hand side.’’
He added:” He’s a good player.
“Should he be on the plane? He probably won’t get on the plane, will he? It just happened a bit late and I think that most of the seats on that plane are taken.
“With all of the players at the top of the field that Gareth has got to choose from, I don’t quite see him getting on the plane unless he features in some of these Nations League games and plays unbelievably well.
“But he’s a dangerous boy, there’s no doubt about that.”
