Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has insisted that Cristiano Ronaldo is not for sale this summer despite rumors linking him to a move away from Old Trafford.
Cristiano Ronaldo joined Manchester United last summer from Juventus for £ 20 million on a two-year deal with an option to extend for an additional one year. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner was voted Manchester United player of the season.
The 37-year-old scored 24 goals and provided 3 assists in 39 appearances for Manchester United last season including 18 goals in 30 Premier League outings. Only Mohamed Salah and Son Heung-min scored more with 23 goals.
There are speculations in the news in the past weeks linking Cristiano Ronaldo to a potential move away from Manchester United. The 37-year-old Portuguese international’s agent Jorge Mendes has held a meeting with Chelsea acting Chairman and director of football Todd Boehly. Mendes has also met with Barcelona President Juan Laporta over the Portuguese international’s future.
Cristiano Ronaldo has failed to show up for pre-season and missed out on Manchester United’s pre-season tour in Asia citing personal issues as the reason for his failure to report for pre-season. There is a section of Manchester United fans who thinks the Portuguese superstar is doing so to engineer a move from United.
Napoli, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, and Barcelona have all shown interest in Cristiano Ronaldo.
