Chelsea won their first Premier League game under new manager Enzo Maresca against Wolves after an open defeat to Manchester City. The 6-2 victory over Wolves at the Molineux Stadium was their first since 2019.
The hero of Chelsea on the day was England U21 international Noni Madueke, who scored a hattrick in the second half after the two teams produced a 2-2 draw in the first. Madueke’s three goals in less than a quarter of an hour extended Chelsea’s lead to three, with new signing Joao Felix adding Chelsea’s sixth on the night.
However, Chelsea manager Enzo Fernandez was not entirely happy with the hat trick hero, as his “silly” foul at the stroke of half-time led to Wolve equalizing from the set piece.
What did Enzo Maresca say about Noni Madueke’s performance against Wolves?

Enzo Maresca revealed after the game: “In the first 10 minutes, he had two chances, and overall, he was very good.
“The only thing I didn’t like from Noni is the free-kick he gave away before half-time and we can avoid that. especially against a team who are good from set-pieces.”
Meanwhile, Enzo Maresca revealed that he expected more quality from Mykhailo Mudryk after he was taken off at half-time.
The Ukrainian international was given the nod over Pedro Neto and Christopher Nkunku on the left wing during the game against Wolves, but he was taken off at half-time and replaced by Pedro Neto.

When asked why he took off Mykhailo Mudryk at half-time, he responded: “Because I was not happy.
“I think in some moments we can manage some situations better. He was working very hard off the ball and that was very good. But in terms of on the ball, I expect a bit more quality from Misha.
“For me, he had some good moments the other day and some good moments today and the reason why was just because we needed to change and give Pedro [Neto] some minutes.”
The Italian was happy with Chelsea’s second-half display and added: “I want to see my team playing the way we want to play.
“Compete every game; this is the most important thing.
“On the ball, to have a clear idea of what we want. Off the ball, to be a very aggressive team. In some moments today, we started to see our team in terms of our pressing.
“I feel very lucky. I feel very happy. I think the squad is very good. There are many players that are versatile and can play in different positions. And then we will see where we arrive but the most important thing is to be better game after game.”
Chelsea’s second-half display against Wolves will be what their fans expect them to display weekly if they want to finish in the top four.
