Both Chelsea and Arsenal have been very busy in the summer transfer window with the sole aim of boosting their squad and getting ready for the new season.
Arsenal has already signed Kai Havertz, Declan Rice, and Justin Timber and is also reported to be pursuing Brentford goalkeeper David Raya and Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus.
Chelsea has also added Christopher Nkunku, Nocolas Jackson, and Kendry Paez to their squad and is still in the market to sign more players before the transfer window closes.
One player who has been on the radar of both Chelsea and Arsenal is Ecuadorian and Brighton midfielder, Moses Caicedo. Chelsea had already seen three official bids rejected by Brighton as the Premier League club wants a fee similar to what Arsenal paid for Declan Rice.
Emmanuel Petit, who played for both Arsenal and Chelsea, believes clubs should make the signing of Moses Caicedo their priority as he can transform them into a title-winning side.
What did Emmanuel Petit say?
The former French international said via 888sport: “Arsenal have analyzed really well what was missing in the team.
“Mikel Arteta and his staff know exactly what they want on the pitch, both individually and collectively, and they have chosen the right profile for every position.
“To me, it looks like Arsenal players are living well. They are together and there are no stories. They have smiles on their faces.
“So the faster Declan Rice and the other new players fit into this system, the better it will be for Arteta and Arsenal.
“They have done well in the transfer market but I think they need at least two more players to reduce the gap with Manchester City.
“I want to see them fight for the title straight away because then they have the Champions League and a lot of the players have no experience in that – it’s different physically and mentally.
“What they have done is good but they’re still missing players. My dream would be Caicedo and I’ve been saying that now for two years.”
Asked if Chelsea should do everything to sign Moses Caicedo, he added: “Definitely. He can play different positions.
“He will bring anger onto the pitch. He has desire and leadership. He has been a leader for Brighton these past two seasons.
“He has grown up so fast after the World Cup and for me there is no doubt Chelsea need Caicedo.”
