MEMORIAL AVON HEIGHTS, Tenn. The man charged with kidnapping in connection with the Friday disappearance of Memphis teacher Eliza Fletcher, Cleotha Abston, made a brief court appearance on Tuesday morning.
Moments after the Memphis Police Department confirmed that the body found at the crime scene late Sunday was that of missing teacher and young mother Eliza Fletcher, Abston appeared in court. The judge saw him in a green jail uniform, a white undershirt, and a face mask.
On Tuesday morning, records reveal that Abston was additionally charged with first-degree murder. At the hearing on Tuesday, prosecutors revealed new counts of planned murder and murder during the commission of an abduction.
He was given legal counsel by the court. The judge has set a new court date for 9 am on September 7th.
