Edgar Bravo, famously known as Eddie Bravo, is an American martial arts instructor, musician, and stand-up comedian best known for popularizing the “Rubber Guard” system in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Bravo started 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu after achieving a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2003.

Early Life and Education
Edgar A. Cano was born to his Mexican parents at a local hospital in Santa Ana, California, United States of America, on May 15, 1970. According to his date of birth, he was born under the Leo zodiac sign. He holds American nationality and is of white descent.
Edgar later legally changed his surname to Bravo, the name of his stepfather. Eddie became interested in playing guitar and percussion at an early age and began to do so. He formed multiple bands to become a renowned musician. In high school, Bravo participated in American football and grappling. Career
Bravo stopped attending other martial arts schools and focused solely on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He earned his blue belt and developed his Twister technique during this time. Eddie obtained his purple belt in 1999 and created his signature Rubber Guard.
Bravo entered the 145-pound division of the Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) Submission World Wrestling Championship in 2003 as a brown belt after winning the North American trials and defeating Gustavo Dantas in the elimination round in an upset. In the quarterfinals, he defeated three-time ADCC champion Royler Gracie before falling to eventual champion Leo Vieira in the semifinals. When Eddie eventually returned to the United States, he received his black belt from Jean-Jacques Machado and established his tenth Planet Jiu-Jitsu school in Los Angeles.
Years after their respective retirements from competition, Bravo and Gracie agreed to another grappling fight in 2014. The match resulted in a tie. Eddie Bravo Invitational (EBI), which debuted in 2014, was also established. Only no-gi jiu-jitsu is used in Eddie Bravo’s technique, which has been quite successful for him at different levels of competition.
