David Beckham claims Manchester United fans are happy that the season is coming to an end after his former sides endured one of the most embarrassing seasons in the Club history.
The former English international has also urged Cristiano Ronaldo to stay at Manchester United amid speculations linking him to a sensational move to Real Madrid.
Cristiano Ronaldo has one year remaining on his contract but there are reports that the 37 years old Portuguese striker could leave the Old Trafford after Manchester United missed out on a top-four spot.
Manchester United’s Champions League hopes suffered a serious setback as Moises Caicedo, Marc Cucurela, Pascal Grob, and Leandro Trossard scored for Graham Potter’s team as they thrashed Manchester United 4-0 at American Express Community Stadium.
With one game remaining, Manchester United sits three points clear of West Ham in sixth place in the Premier League rankings.
If West Ham wins all of their remaining games, they have a chance to beat Manchester United in the Europa League.
The 47 years old also admitted Manchester United needs massive changes in the summer with a new coach arriving.
What did Beckham say?
Speaking to Sky Sports at the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday, Beckham said: “I think there are changes that need to be made and changes that are happening, and we have seen that.
“It is a tough end to the season, but it is the end of the season and I am sure the fans are thankful for that because it has been a tough one.
“It has been full of ups and downs and the players have done what they could do best, and so has the manager as well. But you still turn up at the stadium and I turned up at the stadium a few months back and every seat was filled.
“The fans still believe, the fans still support and the fans will always turn up for the team because it is what the United fans do. There are not many other teams that have gone through what they have gone through in the last few years and are still filling out their stadium.
“It says a lot about the fans, says a lot about what they believe in and there will be changes.
Cristiano Ronaldo has been sensational this season scoring 24 goals in 39 appearances including 17 goals in the Premier League despite Manchester United’s poor season.Ten Hag, according to reports, wants to include within his plans next season.
David Beckham continued: “Cristiano is one of the best players over the last 15 years with Leo [Lionel Messi]. Hopefully seeing him stay on at United is important for the fans.
“It is important to him and we all know how much Man United means to him. He is still doing what he does best; scoring goals and creating. To be doing what he is doing at his age is incredible, so hopefully, it continues and he stays for another year or two.”
Manchester United will hope to end their season a high note when they meet Crystal Palace on 22nd of May for the last round of Premier League matches.
