Darren Collison is a well-known retired professional basketball player from the United States. He was born on August 23, 1987, in Rancho Cucamonga, California, under the sign of Leo. He is black and American. He was born to June Griffith and Dennis Collison, elite track and field athletes for Guyana. He went to Etiwanda High School and graduated there. There, he played basketball for coach Dave Kleckner. Collison was named a fourth team Parade All-American. When he finished high school, he went to the University of California, Los Angeles, where he kept playing basketball.

College Career
Darren Collison was Jordan Farmar’s backup in the 2005–2006 season of the Bruins, and the following year, he was the starting point guard. In December 2006, He won the Most Valuable Player award at the Maui Invitational Tournament. on December 4, 2006, and on February 18, 2007, he was named Pacific-10 Conference Player of the Week.During the 2006-07 season, Collison led the Pacific-10 Conference with 2.2 steals per game.

Professional Career
Collison, who graduated from UCLA, was regarded by many as one of the best point guard prospects in the 2009 NBA Draft. The New Orleans Hornets made him their first-round choice with the 21st overall pick. On January 30, 2010, when New Orleans defeated Memphis 113-111 in overtime, Collison passed out a rookie-record 18 assists for the Hornets and scored 17 points.
Later on March 8, 2010, in a 135-131 win against the Golden State Warriors, Collison broke his record by recording a rookie-best 20 assists for the Charlotte Hornets in addition to 16 points. Collison became the second rookie of the 2009–10 season to get a triple-double when he had 18 points, 13 rebounds, and 12 assists against the Indiana Pacers on February 19, 2010. As a starter in his first NBA season, he had four turnovers per game, but he averaged 18.8 points and 9.1 assists in 37 games.

Dallas Mavericks (2012–2013)
On July 12, 2012, Dahntay and Collison Jones were traded to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Ian Mahinmi. After Jason Kidd drifted away as a free agent, Collison took over as the Mavericks’ starting point guard. In 2012–13, Collison was a crucial part of Dallas’ 4–1 start, but he suffered as they dropped 8 of their next 11. Collison played one game off the bench after starting the team’s first 14 games. Due to his missing the next match due to an injured right middle finger, Dallas decided to sign Derek Fisher. While Collison was a reserve, Fisher started his first game with the Mavericks. Los Angeles Clippers (2013–2014)
Collison agreed to a contract with the Los Angeles Clippers on July 10, 2013. He once again provided Chris Paul, another Clippers player, with support. Collison started during Paul’s 18-game absence due to a shoulder injury, and in 32.6 minutes per game, he averaged 13.3 points and 6.5 assists. The Clippers overcame a 22-point deficit in Game 4 of the second round of the NBA Playoffs against the Oklahoma City Thunder to square the series at 2-2. He scored 12 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter to help the club to a 101-99 victory.
