Mainz 05 Sporting director Christian Heidel has slammed Chelsea’s decision to part ways with Thomas Tuchel after just six games into the season.
Thomas Tuchel became the second Premier League manager to be sacked this season in the Premier League after Bournemouth sacked Scott Parker after an embarrassing 9-0 defeat to Liverpool.
The German was in charge of Chelsea for 100 games, winning 60, drawing 24, and losing 16. Thomas Tuchel won the UEFA Champions League, The UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup. He also lost two FA Cup finals to Leicester City and Liverpool, respectively.
What did Christian Heidel say on Chelsea’s sacking of Thomas Tuchel?
Christian Heidel and Thomas Tuchel worked together during his time at Mainz 05.
reacting to the sacking of Thomas Tuchel on BILD, Heidel said: “With Thomas, it came out of the blue.
“The sacking is grist to the mill of those who are against investors in football. It was purely an investor’s decision.
“Someone who has no idea about football probably thought that sixth place wasn’t good enough for him and said, “then let’s try another coach.”
“After only six games, I can’t think of any other reason. But Chelsea will bitterly regret this decision—they won’t get such a good coach again so quickly.”
Meanwhile, Raphinha had revealed why he snubbed Chelsea for Barcelona.
Asked if he rejected an opportunity to sign for a Premier League, Raphinha said La Vanguardia: “Rejecting an offer from Chelsea? Yes, because my dream was to wear the Barca shirt.
“I followed them since I was young since Ronaldinho arrived. I wanted to be a part of it. The desire was stronger than any other proposal, no matter how powerful it was financially.
“I knew that I might have some difficulties coming and being registered. But I was also aware of the effort the club was making.
“So I decided to trust and adapt to the economic conditions that existed.
“I was born in La Restinga, a very poor neighborhood in Porto Alegre. I had a very poor childhood, so to speak.
“But my family taught me that humility and values are much more important than material things and that has saved me on many occasions.”
Raphinha scored his first goal for Barcelona in their 3-0 win over Seville.
The Brazilian international is also full of praise for his teammate Robert Lewandowski.
Robert Lewandowski has already scored eight goals in 5 appearances for Barcelona, including a hat trick against Viktoria Plzen in the Champions League.
The winger added: “He’s a great footballer.
“We all already knew. But when you are with him, you see that he’s much more than a leader.
“We also have the talent of Dembele, Ansu Fati, Ferran Torres, Memphis… They all have immense quality.”
