Manchester United continues to view Napoli defender Kim Min-Jae as a priority this summer, per Foot Mercato, but discussions between the two clubs have stalled due to interest from Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Newcastle.
Man United manager Erik ten Hag has identified defensive reinforcements as a top priority. Kim is the frontrunner for the center-back position after an outstanding season in Italy in which he helped Napoli achieve their first Serie A championship in 33 years.
According to reports, Kim is eager to transfer to Old Trafford. Still, negotiations between the player and Manchester United have stalled, allowing other European clubs to make an offer for the 26-year-old South Korean international. Kim’s current contract with Napoli contains a release clause in the vicinity of €50 million, which is applied through the first half of July and has piqued the interest of many of Europe’s top clubs.
The report indicates that Newcastle is aware of the dearth of negotiation progress and is monitoring the situation. After Newcastle qualified for the Champions League for the first time since 2002-03, manager Eddie Howe anticipates an active transfer window.
Chelsea has also expressed interest in the Napoli standout. The Blues have fallen behind their Premier League competitors due to a lack of European competition and club instability.
PSG is also interested in the centre-back, as the departure of Sergio Ramos and injuries to Presnel Kimpembe and Nordi Mukiele limited the club’s defensive options last season. Kim’s reported desire to move to the Premier League hinders Les Parisiens’ prospects of signing the defender.
