Manchester United under Erik Ten Hag are a force to reckon with after initial struggles during the start of the season. The Red Devils are currently fifth in the Premier League with 29 points and a point separates them from fourth-place Tottenham with a game less.
Their recent 3-0 win against Nottingham Forest, shows how strong and determined Manchester United are under Erik Ten Hag. Manchester United have lost only one match in their last five Premier League matches.
Bruno Fernandes has revealed that the discipline and stability introduced into the team by Erik Ten Hag is the reason for Manchester United’s current good run of form.
What did Bruno Fernandes say?
The Manchester United captain told NBC Sports after their 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest in the Premier League: Strikers want to get their goals, their assists, those kinds of things are always important for everyone.
“I think the main thing for us, because we’ve been in difficult moments with the changing of coaches, so we find now a coach that gave us stability, that was really important and something that was missing and big disciple. That, for me, was something that was massive on our team that we need.
“I think in our team, we were missing a little bit of that and I think now everyone understands that you do whatever you have to do or you’re out.”
Asked if he is enjoying his football at Manchester United under Erik Ten Hag more than ever, he said: “No, no, obviously I’ve had wonderful times here.
“Obviously I think if we’re talking the statistics side, my first year or year-and-a-half was amazing.
“But probably now I’m not getting those same goals and assists but probably I’m playing much better, or more involved in the game than I was before.
“Obviously I think it’s massively important for me if the team wins because that makes your week. It’s much easier to go to training and see the same faces every day when you win. When you lose and you go in and see the same faces, it’s pretty tough.”
Meanwhile, former Aston striker Gabriel Agbonlahor claims Manchester United can still challenge for the Premier League.
He said on Talk Sport: “I think they should be challenging higher than that.
“I think Manchester United should be challenging for the [Premier League] title.
“I look at that team when everyone is fit – you have David de Gea, Diogo Dalot has been in good form, you’ve got Raphael Varane and then Lisandro Martinez, who has just won a World Cup.
“We all know what Varane has done in his career, a top defender when he is on it. Luke Shaw left-back. You’ve got a midfield of Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, and Christian Eriksen. That’s creativity.
“You’ve got Marcus Rashford and Antony who are top, top wingers. Antony’s got a lot to learn but he will get better. Then you’ve got Anthony Martial.
“Those 11 players there should be comfortably in the top four. I’d take their best XI over Chelsea’s best XI.”
