Karim Benzema Career
At age 8, he started playing football at a club called Bron Terraillon SC in his hometown. He scored two goals in an under-10 match against Lyon youth academy for his club. He was given the nickname Coco after scoring 2 goals against Lyon youth academy for his club Bron Terraillon. Benzema started getting noticed by other big clubs in the city. His coach Serge Santa Cruz was approached by the club Lyon to sign Benzema but he refused.
After Santa spoke to the young striker’s father, he agreed to sign him off to Lyon. He started undergoing trial and joined Lyon. He was inserted into the club’s academy and rose to the youth categories as quickly as possible. He also worked as a ballboy for Lyon’s senior team matches.
