On Tuesday, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said that he will start an impeachment investigation against President Biden.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., said on Tuesday that she would like to see “a very deep dive” into the House Republicans’ investigation into impeaching President Biden, “no matter how long it takes.”
Greene’s words come after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., said he will look into whether Biden should be impeached. After McCarthy’s announcement, the Georgia lawmaker said that the investigation “may take months and months.”
“It could go on until the election in November. But we need to look into Joe Biden,” Greene told reporters, as reported by Fox 5 Atlanta. “But we also need to look into the web of people in our federal agencies, like the FBI, the DOJ, the CIA, and many others, who have worked in this administration, the last administration, and maybe even the one before that. We need to find the people who have covered up Joe Biden’s crimes and the corruption of the whole Biden family.”
Greene said that getting rid of crime in the federal government is her top priority and that the investigation is a good way to start. She said that the move had nothing to do with politics, saying that Americans are having trouble “with a wide open border and invasion of undocumented people and inflation while Biden is in charge.
“They can’t pay their electric bills or their gas bills,” she told him. They can’t pay for food. The American people know this to be true. They also know that leaders like Joe Biden, who has been in office for more than 50 years, have gotten richer every year. They know why they are in office. And I’m very happy. We’re doing this impeachment probe because I think we’ll find out what really happened.”
McCarthy was getting more heat from Greene and other GOP members, as well as from former President Trump, to look into the current president. This is why the impeachment investigation is happening now.
McCarthy said in a statement on Tuesday that the House’s investigations into the Biden family’s business deals abroad this year have shown a “culture of corruption” that needs to be looked into more.
McCarthy said, “These are claims of power abuse, obstruction, and corruption.”
The Speaker said that he will tell the heads of the House Judiciary, Oversight, and Ways and Means committees to lead the investigation into whether Biden should be removed from office. The committees have been looking into the Biden family together for several months.
The White House said the investigation showed “extreme politics at its worst.”
“Republicans in the House have been looking into the President for 9 months, and they haven’t found any evidence of wrongdoing,” said Ian Sams, a spokesman for the White House. “Republicans in his own party have said so.”
