After a massive tornado tore through their community and swept up their 4-month-old child, who was discovered alive in a nearby tree, a Tennessee couple and their two kids are looking for a new place to live.
When the EF-3 tornado struck Montgomery County last Saturday, killing six and injuring over twenty-one, Sydney Moore, her boyfriend, and their kids were inside their Clarksville home.
Moore reported that her 4-month-old child, who was spared from the horrific event, was picked up by the tornado that destroyed the couple’s mobile home and other possessions.
Regarding her attempts to shield her 1-year-old eldest child, Moore told Nashville’s WSMV News, “Something in me just told me to run and jump on top of my son.” “The moment I jumped on him, the walls collapsed.”
Moore recalled the precise events of that evening, telling the outlet that her boyfriend saw the tornado engulf their house before it was destroyed and the baby’s bassinet was removed.
“The roof came off first; the tip of the tornado came down and picked up the bassinet with our baby,” she stated. “He was the first thing to go up.”
Moore claimed that when her boyfriend sprung to save the baby—who was at the time asleep—they were both thrown out of the house.

“He was just holding on to the bassinet the whole time, and they went into circles,” Moore said.
Moore claimed that in spite of the situation, she and her family managed to flee the wreckage and look for their child, even though they were prepared for the worst.
Moore reported that she and her boyfriend discovered the baby alive in a tree that had fallen in the rain after searching for about ten minutes.
She said, “I thought he was dead.” “I had a good feeling he was dead, and there was no chance we would find him. However, he is here only by God’s grace.”
“I’ll sacrifice my life for my children. My boyfriend would act in the same way, so it’s not even a question,” Moore continued.
Following the tragic event, Moore and her family were left with very little personal belongings; however, the community reportedly came together to support the young couple and their kids by giving them diapers, formula, and other necessities.
Almost a week after the couple confronted the tornado, the family is looking for a new place to live.
Moore’s family member has also set up a GoFundMe to assist with the family’s reconstruction and purchases of essential items for them and their kids.
Moore and her kids “came out with minor cuts and bruises” after the tornado destroyed their home, according to Caitlyn, Moore’s sister, who posted on the GoFundMe page. On the other hand, the GoFundMe page claims that Moore’s boyfriend “suffered a broken arm or shoulder.”
According to Moore’s sister, “this disaster has affected more than just this family, so I would like to extend my thoughts and prayers to everyone affected” in the listing for the fundraiser.
