The Armenian Defense Ministry said on Saturday that joint military drills between the United States and Armenia will take place in Armenia from July 15–24.
According to the ministry, such exercises with “partner countries” are routine and the Eagle Partner 2024 exercise would concentrate on activities connected to peacekeeping operations.
Russia’s closest friend in the South Caucasus until recently, Armenia has experienced a deterioration in relations with Moscow in recent years due to what Yerevan perceives as Russia’s inability to protect it from neighboring Azerbaijan.
Despite Armenia’s continued status as a treaty ally of Russia, it has angered Moscow by publicly stating that it opposes Moscow’s conflict in Ukraine and by sending humanitarian help to Kyiv.
