According to The New God: Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has taken Anna Sorokin to prison in the Orange County Correctional Facility in Goshen, New York because she is scared of being deported while she is attempting to have charges of grand larceny against her dismissed.
A jury in Manhattan found Sorokin, then 31 years old, guilty of multiple counts of fraud in 2019, and he was sentenced to nearly four years in prison before being freed in 2021 on the condition that he maintain good behavior. The German citizen was held by ICE on March 25, 2021, because she had violated the terms of her visa by remaining in the United States for a longer period than was permitted.
