Alleged members of the Proud Boys organization cause a scene during “Drag Queen Story Hour” at the San Lorenzo Library.
Officials opened an inquiry into a possible hate crime after said members of the Proud Boys group showed up at a public library in California for Drag Queen Story Hour and “got highly aggressive with a threatening violent posture.”
According to the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy responded to a report of a disturbance at the San Lorenzo Library at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday and discovered that an “LGBTQ community member was organizing a reading session at the library called, ‘Drag Queen Story Hour.'”
The event attracted members of the LGBTQ community, both adults and children included, including both sets of parents.
“A group of five men entered the library at the same time as the reading program, which caused some disruption. It was discovered that the information regarding the guys came from a group of extremists affiliated with the right-wing Proud Boys.” Lt. Ray Kelly was the one to deliver the statement on behalf of the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office.
